San Diego Miramar College will celebrate “National Chemistry Week” by hosting Chem Expo 2023 on Nov. 4th, 2023 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on its Mira Mesa Campus. This free event will feature chemistry demonstrations, hands-on activities and exhibits by local companies and organizations.
The Times of San Diego printed an Op Ed piece by Fire Tech Program Director Darren Hall on Miramar’s plans to offer a bachelor’s degree in Public Safety. On Oct. 10, 2023, it was determined there are no objections and the program will be advanced for approval by the CCC Board of Governors President.
Miramar College will be demonstrating their support for undocumented students by joining community colleges across California in Undocumented Student Action Week October 16-20.

As the violence in Israel and Gaza continues to escalate, people’s lives are in shambles as they suffer through the unrest. We have many on campus who have family, friends, and other connections there and as such are deeply affected by these events. Ultimately, whatever the politics involved, innocent people are experiencing loss of life, life-changing injury, and other acts against humanity.
Miramar College held an Indigenous People’s Day celebration on Oct. 9. The Soaring Eagles of San Diego were on hand to provide entertainment in the form of dance on Compass Point. Free Indian Fry Bread tacos were given to students and staff. Hundreds attended. KUSI-TV covered the event for the local news.
The Biotechnology Program at Miramar College is offering the Service-Learning Supply Chain Experience (SCE) Scholarship again this intersession. SCE prepares students for employment in the life sciences industry by providing laboratory technical skills training along with education and career counseling, industry exploration, job searching skills, and resume building.
